Privacy Policy
Bizjockey is preparing to launch. This policy covers the current website at bizjockey.com, including the early-access sign-up. Before the Bizjockey marketplace opens, we will publish an updated policy that covers accounts, verification and business and investor profiles.
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
Right Path Advisory Inc. ("Bizjockey", "we", "us") operates bizjockey.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the website, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. It applies to the website, the early-access sign-up and any email you exchange with us. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
2. Information we collect
When you join the early-access list, we collect:
- your email address;
- the role you select (business owner, investor or buyer, lender or advisor);
- your province, if you choose one;
- a record of your consent: the wording you agreed to and the date and time.
Automatically, to protect the sign-up from abuse and keep a record of consent, we record the IP address and browser type (user agent) used to sign up. Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, pages requested and error and security events.
When you email us, we collect your email address, the content of your message and anything you choose to include.
Please don't send us financial statements, tax returns or other confidential business documents. We don't need them, and the website isn't designed to receive them.
3. How we use your information
- to send you news about Bizjockey's launch, an invitation to the private beta, and founding-member offers, as you agreed when you signed up;
- to understand interest by role and province so we can plan the launch;
- to reply to your questions;
- to operate, secure and improve the website, including preventing spam and abuse;
- to keep records needed to meet our legal obligations, including proof of consent under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
We don't use your information for any other purpose without asking you first, unless the law requires or permits it.
4. Consent and unsubscribing
We only email you about Bizjockey if you tick the consent box when you sign up. Every marketing email we send will include a way to unsubscribe, and you can also unsubscribe at any time by emailing info@bizjockey.com. We will act on your request within 10 business days. Withdrawing consent stops our marketing emails; it doesn't affect anything we must keep by law.
5. Sharing your information
We do not sell personal information. We share it only:
- with service providers who help us run the website and email, such as our web hosting and email provider (Hostinger) and our font provider (Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads). They may only use it to provide their services to us;
- if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of Bizjockey, our users or others;
- as part of a business transaction, such as a merger or sale of the business, where the information continues to be protected under this policy.
6. Where your information is stored
Our service providers may store or process information in other countries, including the United States and the European Union. When information is outside Canada, it may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement and national security authorities of those countries. We choose providers that protect personal information with safeguards comparable to those required in Canada.
7. Cookies and analytics
The website doesn't currently use advertising cookies or analytics tracking. If we add analytics or cookies, we will update this policy first.
8. How long we keep it
We keep your early-access sign-up until you unsubscribe, or until we no longer need it to prepare for and announce the launch. We keep a record of your consent and any unsubscribe request for as long as needed to show we complied with CASL. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.
9. How we protect it
We use reasonable safeguards for the sensitivity of the information. Sign-ups are stored in a location on our server that can't be reached from the web, the site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access is limited to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
10. Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, withdraw your consent, or ask us to delete it, subject to legal exceptions. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. To make a request, email info@bizjockey.com. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
11. Children
Bizjockey is for business owners and investors. The website isn't directed at anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example before the marketplace launches. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date, and tell people on our early-access list about any significant change.
